FRANKLIN, Neb. (AP) — You may not be able to choose your family, but in Nebraska, you can try to deselect your local city councilman — even if he's your son.
That's what one Franklin County man is attempting to do. Leonard Herrick has begun a recall effort to oust Franklin City Councilman Len Herrick, as well as Sheriff Jerry Archer.
The elder Herrick has accused both men of bank fraud and vehicle theft, among other things.
In an interview with Hastings television station KHAS-TV, Herrick said his son, “ain't fit to run the city.''
Archer has dismissed the accusations as frivolous. The younger Herrick did not immediately return messages left by The Associated Press on Thursday.
The younger Herrick and Archer have 20 days to respond to the recall affidavits.
