Eric Clapton was ranked No. 4 on Rolling Stone’s list of the greatest guitarists of all time. He played with the Yardbirds, Cream, Blind Faith and Derek and the Dominos before his solo career.
One is known for his guitar prowess, the other for his vocal abilities.
Saturday, Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood will team up for a show at the Qwest Center Omaha.
Clapton secured his place in rock history playing in such ’60s and ’70s groups as the Yardbirds, Cream, Blind Faith and Derek and the Dominos, then took off on a solo career.
Winwood — a member of Blind Faith with Clapton — made a name for himself with such bands as Traffic and the Spencer Davis Group. Winwood also was popular in ’80s with pop hits that included “Higher Love,” “Roll With It” and “Valerie.”
Both men have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Winwood as a member of Traffic, Clapton as a member of Cream and the Yardbirds and as a solo artist).
Clapton was ranked No. 4 on Rolling Stone’s list of the greatest guitarists of all time. Winwood, though not on the guitarist list, made it to No. 33 on the magazine’s list of greatest singers of all time.
Last year, the duo performed three live shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Those performances are now available on CD and DVD, “Live From Madison Square Garden.”
In recent concerts, the two have performed songs from their days in Blind Faith as well as songs from their other bands. According to recent reviews, they performed very few (if any) songs from their respective solo catalogs.
