The Elkhorn Legion field will be renamed for a longtime baseball coach under a resolution unanimously passed Tuesday by the Omaha City Council.
The field at Ta Ha Zuka Park, 20920 Elkhorn Drive, will be called Frerichs Legion Field, in honor of Elkhorn High School coach Jerry Frerichs.
Frerichs is retiring this year. He also coaches Elkhorn's American Legion team.
A dedication ceremony will be held at the field July 11, before an Elkhorn team tournament game.
