Performers at 2009 fair

Randy Travis, REO Speedwagon, and John Kay & Steppenwolf are among favorite performers from the past who will return to the Nebraska State Fair to help celebrate its final run in Lincoln.

The fair will feature paid concerts by top name acts:

--Daryl Hall and John Oates will take the grandstand stage for a paid concert Aug. 29. Tickets are $12, plus the State Fair gate fee of $8 for adults.

--Country act Montgomery Gentry will perform a paid concert at the grandstand on Sept. 6. Tickets are $12, plus the $8 adult gate fee for the State Fair.

--Country star Lee Ann Womack, Aug. 28

--REO Speedwagon, Aug. 31

--Former Poison frontman Bret Michaels, Sept. 1.

--Christian rock band Newsboys, Sept. 2.

--Randy Travis, Sept. 3

--John Kay & Steppenwolf, Sept. 7

The Nebraska State Fair 1868 Foundation will offer a preview of the 2009 fair during its “Blue Ribbon Roll Out” fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Lancaster Building at State Fair Park in Lincoln. The event, which costs $25 per person, will include samples of foods from longtime fair vendors, auction packages and music by the Blues Orchestra.
