LINCOLN -- One of Nebraska's top tourism pitches is going digital.
The state division of tourism recently launched on online version of its 2009 Nebraska Travel Guide. The digital edition is identical to the 192-page printed version issued every January to lure visitors to Nebraska attractions.
Sarah Baker, a spokeswoman for the tourism office, said the step is part of an overall effort in state government to make information available on the Internet. It also is in recognition that a majority of travelers now plan vacations via a computer, she said.
Previously, the printed Travel Guide could be ordered via the Internet or downloaded, but it was not easily viewed.
Baker said that the state may be able to save some printing costs if the online travel guide proves popular.
