Frank Wear’s long list of business accomplishments and civic endeavors made him widely known in Omaha and beyond.
Wear was president of Century 21 Wear Co. and Wear Construction Co. He also served 12 years on the Omaha Public Power District Board.
“He seemed to know about everybody in Omaha, and they all knew him,” said son Chris Wear of Omaha. “He was real popular. He had a lot of friends.”
Frank J. Wear died Saturday at his Omaha home of complications of diabetes, said his son. Frank Wear was 90.
Before trying real estate, Wear had been a rancher near Burwell, Neb., served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II and had a feedlot in south Omaha.

He was director of the National Home Builders Association, director of the Omaha Home Builders Association, president of the Omaha Association of Independent Fee Appraisers, and state director and president of the Independent Fee Appraisers.
In 1976, Wear was appointed to serve a six-year term on the Nebraska Real Estate Commission. Earlier, he was appointed to the Nebraska Appeals Tribunal as an employee representative.
He also had been a member of the committee that created the Nebraska Real Estate Appraisers License Act, which was the first in the U.S.
During his OPPD tenure, he served as chairman of construction, treasurer, vice chairman of the board and board chairman.
Other survivors include daughters Alice White of Omaha and Suzy Wear of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; son John “Jake” Wear of Omaha; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
