NORAD exercise looks ahead to Vancouver Olympics

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. (AP) - The North American Aerospace Defense Command will conduct an exercise over British Columbia and Washington state in preparation for the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, British Columbia.

NORAD says the exercise will be Wednesday and Thursday and is designed to improve its pilots' skills at identifying and intercepting aircraft.

NORAD is a joint U.S.-Canada command responsible for defending North American air space. It is based at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs.
