Getting scrubbed

Who’s at risk

U.S. infection rates for H1N1 have been highest among those ages 5 to 24. Others with higher risks include the elderly, pregnant women and people with chronic lung disease, kidney disease, heart disease, neurological diseases, diabetes and asthma.

Tips for getting kids to wash up

Have them sing “Happy Birthday” twice. It will make washing fun and provide the 20 seconds needed for a good scrub.

Hang a towel with dinosaurs or a favorite cartoon character.
