Nebraska festival draws bands from near and far

By Kevin Coffey
WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

The trek to Benson won’t be lengthy for Omaha bands like Honey and Darling or Talking Mountain. But for Brazil’s Magic Crayon or Denmark’s Labrador, it’s thousands of miles.

The Nebraska Pop Festival is bringing them all together this weekend.

Indie pop bands from Omaha and Lincoln will be joined by groups from around the U.S. — and a few foreign countries — at the Barley Street Tavern and the Waiting Room Lounge tonight through Sunday.

The weekend event is a benefit for MavRadio, the college radio station at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. All proceeds from the festival go directly to the station.
