Sale to benefit two animal rescue groups
A garage sale this week will benefit two Omaha animal rescue groups, Animal Rescue Society Inc. and No Pets Left Behind.
The sale will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today through Saturday at 13256 Millard Ave.
Glenwood to hold Keg Creek Days
Keg Creek Days will be Saturday and Sunday in Glenwood, Iowa.
The event, named for the creek that runs through Glenwood, includes a pie-baking contest, live music, a talent contest, a flint-knapping demonstration, a sidewalk parade, a pedal tractor pull and a tractor parade.
The centerpiece of the event is the Keg Creek antique tractor and farm machinery show.

Fundraiser to aid those affected by June crash
The Louisville 6/20 Fund Committee has more fundraising activities planned Saturday to support the victims and families affected by the deadly June 20 car crash in South Bend, Neb.
A 16-team softball tournament will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Ash Grove Ball Field and the Louisville Legion (school) Field. Games will be played Sunday, too.
Silent auction items will be available for bidding at the Louisville Senior Center from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, with a spaghetti feed from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. carwash will be at the Home State Bank parking lot. The dog wash will run simultaneously in the parking lot between the bank and city offices.
The community garage and bake sale will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the commons at the Louisville High School. Cookbook order forms will be available at the garage sale and at Taylor Quik Pik.
Workshop to help small-business owners
New and prospective small-business owners can learn about business success by attending a two-evening workshop.
The Small Business Success Workshop will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday and 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Nebraska District SBA Office, 10675 Bedford Ave., No. 100.
Sign-in and payment will be from 6 p.m. to 6:20 p.m. Wednesday night. The fee is $30. Call 221-3606 to register.
Clinic to aid athletes on Friday nights
Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital, 2808 S. 143rd Plaza, again will provide free injury evaluations and treatment at their Friday Night Sports Injury Clinic, which begins this week.
The Sports Injury Clinic is open from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Fridays to accommodate athletes after Friday night high school football games. Junior high, high school and collegiate athletes can visit, at no cost, an orthopedic physician and physical therapist to assess the injury or athletic pain. Casting, X-rays and bracing are available at no cost on a needed basis.

Farmers market extends its season
The Florence Mill Farmers Market has extended its season through Sept. 27. The market is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays at the Florence Mill, 9102 N. 30th St.
Sale’s food drive aids Open Door Mission
Twice As Nice Kids consignment sale and a can-for-can food drive for the Open Door Mission continue today though Saturday at the Omaha Police Union, 13445 Cryer Ave., just north of 132nd Street and West Center Road.
The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
