A 17-year-old boy from Elm Creek, Neb., was killed in a two-car crash Friday afternoon at a rural intersection in the Platte River valley.

According to the Buffalo County Sheriff's Office:

The teen was driving a 1994 Cadillac with two other teenaged passengers. The car was westbound on 39th Road, east of Elm Creek, when it collided with a 2006 Cadillac driven south on Dunbar Road by a 28-year-old rural Elm Creek woman. Both vehicles left the roadway and entered a ditch.

All involved were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, where the 17-year-old died, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Family members were still being notified Friday night, and the Sheriff's Office released no names.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday. The investigation continues.
