What's more difficult — Florida Atlantic trying to run up the middle against Ndamukong Suh or you trying to drive through the middle of Lincoln against Husker fans, State Fair traffic and ubiquitous construction?
Well, with a bit of planning, you've probably got the easier task. Here are some things to keep in mind:
State Fair
>> Parking north of campus is especially tight because of the fair. Consider parking elsewhere for the game. The university recommends paying $15 to park in the university garage at 17th and R Streets.
>> Military Road is closed between 14th and 16th Streets for the fair.
Construction
>> I-80 widening projects between Omaha and Lincoln continue.
>> In Lincoln, Q Street from 24th to 18th Streets is restricted to one lane.
>> R Street no longer goes through from 27th Street to campus. Because of the Antelope Valley project, the section of R Street from 18th to 24th Streets has been removed.
Game day traffic
>> Stadium Drive, west of the stadium, will be closed on game days.
>> Most spots on campus are reserved already. University officials urge drivers to stay away from the stadium area if they don't have reserved spots.
>> Star Tran offers the Big Red Express shuttle service to and from the stadium from sites around Lincoln at a cost of $4 each way or $50 for a season ticket book for all home games.
The shuttle runs from Southeast Community College, 88th and O Streets; Holmes Park, 70th Street and Normal Boulevard; Westfield Shoppingtown Gateway, 61st and O Streets; North Star High School, 5801 N. 33rd St.; and Southpointe Pavilions, 27th Street and Pine Lake Road. Service begins two hours before kickoff, with the last shuttle running 45 minutes before kickoff. Shuttles will return to the lots immediately after the game.
