Man injured in motorcycle accident

A 24-year-old Carter Lake, Iowa, man suffered a head injury Sunday when the motorcycle he was driving crashed south of Beebeetown in Iowa’s Harrison County, the Iowa State Patrol said.

The motorcyclist, identified as Chad Gunzenhauser, was flown by helicopter to the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha after the crash, which was reported about 5:30 p.m. He was in stable condition at the hospital Sunday night and was expected to survive his injury, Trooper Jon Salyers said.

Gunzenhauser took a turn too fast and lost control of the motorcycle at a rural intersection on a blacktop road, Salyers said.

Investigators suspected alcohol use may have contributed to the crash because of witness reports and the smell of alcohol on the driver, the trooper said.

Gunzenhauser, who had participated in a poker run event Sunday, was not wearing a helmet, Salyers said.
