The World-Herald's Lee Barfknecht rates the teams in the Big 12.
1. Texas (1-0)
• Last week: Beat UL-Monroe 59-20. Up next: at Wyoming, 2:30 p.m., Versus. This should be a blowout, but sometimes the 7,300-foot altitude at Wyoming can do strange things to flatlanders.
2. Oklahoma State (1-0)
• Last week: Beat Georgia 24-10. Up next: Houston, 2:30 p.m., FSN. When a team as talented as OSU whips a strong foe like Georgia while not playing real well, that's a bad sign for the rest of the Big 12.
3. Oklahoma (0-1)
• Last week: Lost to BYU 14-13. Up next: Idaho State, 6 p.m., PPV. The offense that set the NCAA scoring record last season by scoring 99 touchdowns is in shambles. The Sooners now become a mystery team.
4. Missouri (1-0)
• Last week: Beat Illinois 37-9. Up next: Bowling Green, 6 p.m., PPV. Is it crazy to move the Tigers up four spots after one win? Maybe. But MU produced the most impressive performance of the first week.
5. Nebraska (1-0)
• Last week: Beat Florida Atlantic 49-3. Up next: Arkansas State, 1 p.m., PPV. Good things far outnumbered the bad for the Huskers in their opener. Steady improvement will put NU in good shape heading to Virginia Tech.
6. Baylor (1-0)
• Last week: Beat Wake Forest 24-21. Up next: Idle. QB Robert Griffin played well. DT Phil Taylor played well. The new left OT played well. This bunch is for real.
7. Kansas (1-0)
• Last week: Beat Northern Colorado 49-3. Up next: at UTEP, 6:30 p.m., CBS College Sports. Don't fret, Jayhawk fans. The wild, wild North will be a mixed-up, changeable mess all season.
8. Texas Tech (1-0)
• Last week: Beat North Dakota 38-13. Up next: Rice, 6 p.m. Unbelievably, this was a 15-point game with five minutes to play. New QB Taylor Potts finished with more interceptions (3) than TD passes (2).
9. Texas A&M (1-0)
• Last week: Beat New Mexico 41-6. Up next: Idle. A surprisingly good start for the Aggies, who gained 606 total yards and held New Mexico to 231.
10. Iowa State (1-0)
• Last week: Beat North Dakota State 34-17. Up next: Iowa, FSN, 11 a.m. If the Cyclones sneak out a win over Iowa, a 5-0 start wouldn't be out of the question. Who would have predicted that?
11. Colorado (0-1)
• Last week: Lost to Colorado State 23-17. Up next: at Toledo on Friday, 8 p.m., ESPN. An ugly first impression at home and now a quick turnaround for a night road game. This isn't what CU needed.
12. Kansas State (1-0)
• Last week: Beat Massachusetts 21-17. Up next: at UL-Lafayette, 6 p.m., ESPN360.com. Against Division I-AA Massachusetts, K-State scored 0 points in the first quarter, 0 in the third and 0 in the fourth.
