Networking event set for Midtown group
The Midtown Business Association will have its next networking event at a new location, Midwest Photo Pro, 4314 Leavenworth St., from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday.
Meeting to focus on business ethics
Learn about “Building an Ethical Reputation” at an 11:30 a.m. lunch meeting Tuesday of the Public Relations Society of America.
Beverly Kracher, executive director of the Greater Omaha Alliance for Business Ethics and an associate professor of business ethics and society at Creighton University, will speak.
The meeting will be at Ironwood Golf and Country Club, 12627 Pacific St. Make reservations — $20 for members, $30 for nonmembers and $15 for students — at www.prsanebraska.org.
Artist Sherer featured at Second Friday
This week’s Second Friday in Council Bluffs will feature nearly 25 artists, plus two writers.
Michael D. Sherer will be the featured artist. Writers Jill Hart and Larry Schulenburg will sign their new releases at 109 Pearl St. and 500 Willow Ave. Jeri Wiskus will demonstrate glass bead-making, and there will be a wine tasting. The event is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. downtown.
King Korn Karnival begins on Thursday
The 78th annual Kass Kounty King Korn Karnival, Nebraska’s oldest harvest festival, will run Thursday through Sunday in Plattsmouth’s historic downtown.
Thursday’s kickoff will be the Kornation of the King and Queen of Kornland at 7:30 p.m. in St. John Catholic School, 520 S. 18th St.
Friday highlights include a kids parade, talent show, antique tractor show and a car show and shine. Saturday’s parade begins at 2 p.m. on Main Street, and the day finishes with a street dance. Sunday’s highlight is a fly-in breakfast at the Plattsmouth Airport.
The carnival includes entertainment, rides, food and craft vendors.
Gifford Park group meets Thursday
The Gifford Park Neighborhood Association will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Creighton University Medical Center’s Morrison Seminar Room.
Day for Kids is free Saturday
Adults and children can spend some meaningful time together from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Carl & Joyce Mammel South Omaha Unit of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Midlands, 5051 S. 22nd St.
The Day for Kids, which is free and open to the public, will feature face painting, an inflatable “jump house” and more.
Booths from groups such as the Open Door Mission, United Way of the Midlands, Big Brothers Big Sisters and the City of Omaha will provide information on the programs and services available to strengthen the relationship between adults and youths.
Community CROPS plans bike ride, dinner
Community CROPS in Lincoln will have a bicycle ride and soup dinner from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday to raise awareness of the group’s CROP walk for hunger.
All-you-can-eat soup will be $8. There will be music and family-friendly activities. The event will be at Sunset Community Farm, Southwest 40th and West F Streets, in Lincoln.
