The National Safety Council, Greater Omaha Chapter has received the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Award. The council was honored for “outstanding motorcycle safety support.” Nominees are reviewed and judged by a panel of motorcycle safety professionals.


The Boy Scouts of America Mid-America Council has these new board of trustees members: Marty Carmody, executive director of corporate services for the Nebraska Medical Center; Chris Hawkins, vice president-general counsel of Hawkins Construction Co. of Omaha; Jess Hull, president of Performance Toyota-Scion in La Vista; Ron Lindquist, partner with ADM of Osceola, Neb.; Brian Rech, managing partner and owner of Ameriprise in Norfolk, Neb.; Greg Smith, executive vice president, ConAgra Foods; Mark Kessler, president of Kessler Funeral Homes Inc. of Audubon, Iowa; District Judge Jeff Neary of Merrill, Iowa; and Robert Vernon, executive director, Fort Dodge Housing Agency in Fort Dodge, Iowa.


Amy Friedman Wilson, an associate professor of pharmacy practice at Creighton University, has been named a 2009-10 academic leadership fellow by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. The Leadership Fellows Program is a yearlong experience designed to develop promising pharmacy faculty for roles as future leaders in academic pharmacy and higher education.


The Great Plains Welsh Heritage & Culture Centre in Wymore, Neb., has received a grant from the National Welsh-American Foundation, according to center President Berwyn E Jones.


Roger Brumback, chairman of Creighton University's department of pathology, is co-editor of a recently released book, “Advanced Therapy in Epilepsy.” It is designed to be a resource for physicians involved in the care of patients with epilepsy.


Dean Adkins, agriculture program director at regional radio station KMA in Shenandoah, Iowa, was honored recently by Iowa State University Extension as a Friend of Extension.
