A 19-year-old Lincoln man was shot in the chest during a confrontation at an apartment complex Tuesday evening. His injuries were not life-threatening.

According to Lincoln Police Capt. Jim Davidsaver:

The man and a cousin were walking in the commons of a complex on the 1800 block of Knox Street about 8:30 p.m. when they were confronted by a group of about five men, one carrying a shotgun.

The gun went off, and the man was sprayed with pellets believed to be birdshot or something of that nature.

The man gave chase but soon gave up, thinking it better to go to BryanLGH Medical Center West for treatment instead.

There were no arrests as of early this morning.
