If it's Saturday morning, I must be at my daughter's soccer game wondering:
Isn't every Saturday “Throwback Day'' at Memorial Stadium? No program in the country pays more attention to its past than Nebraska.
How many Bob Devaney-style hats will we see today? Those are the hats those folks wear every week.
Why doesn't NU market all the different Husker jerseys since 1962? People would buy the 1972 era jerseys with the white stripes over the shoulder, or the 1983 era with the “N'' on the sleeve. Nebraska fans, of all ages, wear jerseys more than most places.
How old is too old to wear a jersey, anyway?
Shouldn't they reopen the Legion Club on O Street and “Sweep Left'' for a day?
Would Bo Pelini call for a “Cover Two'' defense again the next time NU is protecting a lead with 80 yards and two minutes to go? And would Pelini admit it?
How injured is Zac Lee, anyway? After the little “splinter'' charade Pelini and Lee pulled earlier this week, it's hard to know. It will be interesting to see how much Lee plays tonight. Would coaches risk further damage to his left thumb in a game the Huskers figure to win by a bunch?
Will Lee play enough to get back in a rhythm? I think so. Shawn Watson will want to make sure Lee has good vibes going into Missouri Week (which lasts 10 days).
Upon further review, the one play Lee would like to have back last week was not a pass. It was an option play on the goal line in which he kept the ball and was stopped short — and didn't see Roy Helu, with a fullback, all alone and ready to walk in for a touchdown.
How much will Cody Green play? And given the remaining games on the schedule, is this the last time we see Green for several weeks?
When do the black shirts get handed out? Last week would have been a fitting time to break them out, even with the last-minute breakdowns. The defense played terrific. If the shirts don't come out this week, with Missouri, Texas Tech, Baylor, Kansas and Oklahoma looming, you wonder if they will at all this season.
Do some fans really not care if the head coach answers questions about the game, or do they just say that because they don't like the media?
Will Matt O'Hanlon be the hero sometime this season? I sure hope so. O'Hanlon played well last week. He got caught looking at quarterback Tyrod Taylor a second too long and got stuck with the tab at Virginia Tech, but there were plenty of other Huskers who chipped in.
Will Pelini use a timeout tonight to get his defense lined up right?
Is Joe Paterno about to make one last run at a national title? Yes, and I think that begins tonight against a good Iowa team.
Should Nebraska fans root for Virginia Tech today? I suppose so. If Miami wins today, the Hokies will have two losses and fall out of the top 20.
Will anyone remember the Virginia Tech game in a month?
Should Ndamukong Suh be used at fullback on short-yardage situations?
If you have to bring over your best player on defense to play fullback, what does that say about your short-yardage running game?
Is Watson committed to the running game inside the red zone? Does Nebraska have the personnel to line up and get a tough 2 yards if it has to?
Wouldn't the Huskers lining up and powering for a 2-yard run on third down be the best way to celebrate “Throwback Day?''
What am I doing at a soccer game? It's college football Saturday!
