Nebraska institutions are in line for nearly $17 million in federal stimulus funding for medical research.
An announcement Wednesday from the office of Nebraska's Sen. Ben Nelson says the money is coming through the National Institutes of Health.
Included in the grants are nearly $8.7 million for 34 projects at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and more than $2.4 million for nine projects at Creighton University.
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln will receive nearly $4.6 million for 23 projects.
Boys Town National Research Hospital also will receive more than $1 million for five projects.
