Lincoln will have a new bank soon, headed by two bankers with decades of experience there.

Frontier Holdings LLC said Friday that Gale Furnas and Steve Schmidt will head Frontier Bank’s operations as president and executive vice president for the Lincoln market.

Furnas, who will join Frontier Bank on Nov. 1, has been executive vice president for TierOne Bank of Lincoln since 1998 and a banker with that company since 1976.

Schmidt, who already has joined Frontier, had been executive vice president of Community Bank of Lincoln since 2007 and previously was an officer with Union Bank of Lincoln.

David Rogers, CEO of Frontier Holdings, said Frontier Bank is opening a loan production office in Lincoln and plans to open a full-service branch bank.

Frontier Holdings owns Frontier Bank in Davenport, Neb.; Pender (Neb.) State Bank; and the Bank of Madison, Neb., with assets totaling $231 million, plus a loan production office in Omaha.
