Parents named 'adoption angels'

WASHINGTON (AP) Congressional officials have honored a Nebraska family that has taken in four foster children with adoption plans in mind.

Steve and Shelley Brune of West Point recently were honored among other 2009 Angels in Adoption Award recipients.

Each year, the Congressional Coalition on Adoption invites members of Congress to nominate those who have made extraordinary contributions to children in need of homes.

The Brunes were nominated by U.S. Sen. Mike Johanns, R-Neb.

He says the Brunes' "capacity to love and care for these four children is an inspiration and worthy example for others to follow."

The Brunes have adopted two boys and are in the process of adopting two girls. They also have a biological daughter.
