WINTER COAT RIDE: The second annual Winter Coat Bicycle Ride will be Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Halleck Park in Papillion. The ride benefits the Open Door Mission and is sponsored by Wildewood Christian Church in Papillion and NebraskaChristianBicycling.org. Donations of coats, canned food and nonperishable dry goods will be accepted for registration. Route lengths vary to cater to all ages. Brats, hot dogs, chips and drinks will be available at the finish for a free-will offering. Halleck Park is east of 84th Street in downtown Papillion. Check the Web site for additional details.

FALL FESTIVAL AND CAR SHOW: Arlington (Neb.) Community Church is sponsoring a car show and fall festival on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the city park. The event kicks off with a community church service at 10 a.m. A craft show begins at 11 a.m.; the car show will run from noon to 4 p.m. Also featured will be games and inflatables, bingo and raffles, music and food. Arlington is seven miles west of Fremont on U.S. Highway 30. Check www.acchurch.net for more information.

BERKEYS IN CONCERT: Jackson and Almeda Berkey will perform in concert Oct. 10 at Broadway United Methodist Church, 11 S. First St. in Council Bluffs. The concert starts at 7 p.m.; doors open at 6:30 p.m. The Berkeys are longtime performers and recording artists; both have appeared for years with Mannheim Steamroller. The concert will feature Jackson on piano and Almeda’s vocals. No tickets are necessary; a free-will donation will be taken.

TURKEY DINNER: St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hooper, Neb., will be serving a turkey dinner on Sunday at the Hooper City Auditorium. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children for turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, corn, rolls and pie. Hours are 4 p.m.to 7 p.m.; carry out is available from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A raffle, silent auction and entertainment will be part of the festivities. Hooper is north of Fremont, in Dodge County.

NEW SINGLES GROUP: Single adults interested in Bible studies and fun activities are invited to the next meeting of a new singles group at the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in West Des Moines. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

PUMPKIN SALES: Celebrate the fall harvest by picking a pumpkin from the organic garden at Second Unitarian Church, 3012 S. 119th St. Bring a canned food donation for the Omaha Food Bank and receive $1 off. All money from pumpkin sales will go to the food bank. Hours are today from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. Also featured will be free children’s games and a firetruck crawl; hours for those activities are 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. both days.

ANNUAL FALL SALE: First Congregational Church in Ashland, Neb., will hold its annual fall sale next Friday and Saturday. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Used clothing, furniture, baked goods, crafts and miscellaneous items will be for sale. A soup and sandwich lunch will be available Friday only from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

RUMMAGE SALE: Maplewood United Methodist Women will be having a rummage sale on Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. All proceeds go to missions. The sale will be held at church, at 3535 Maplewood Blvd.

GREEK DINNER: Roasted leg of lamb, Greek chicken, stuffed grape leaves, roasted vegetables in a tomato sauce, Greek salad with feta and olives, and baklava will be on the menu Sunday at a Grecian dinner at St. John Greek Orthodox Church, 602 Park Ave. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are $12 each, and carry-out is available. Assorted pastries and breads also will be for sale. The dinner is being hosted by the AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association) and Daughters of Penelope of St. John’s.
