What is the city’s plan to ensure that untreated sewage is not dumped into local waterways?
>> Separate some of the combined sewers in eastern parts of the city.
>> Build two treatment plants that operate only in wet weather.
>> Construct a 5.4-mile-long tunnel along the Missouri River to carry overflow storm water and sewage to one of the new treatment plants.
Who will pay for the sewer work?
Omaha residents and those who live in areas connected to Omaha’s sewer system. Those include: Ralston, Bennington, Gretna, La Vista, Papillion, Carter Lake, Bellevue and unincorporated areas of Douglas County and northern Sarpy County. About 600,000 people are served by Omaha’s sewer system.

Will there be financial assistance available?
Yes, a fund is being established to help cover the costs for those who meet income guidelines.
