One dead, four injured in crash

PAWNEE CITY, Neb. (AP) — A Pawnee City man is dead and four others injured following a two-vehicle crash in southeastern Nebraska.

Marcus Frederick, 27, died at a local hospital, where he was taken after Wednesday’s crash.

Sheriff’s officials says Frederick was eastbound on state Highway 65 shortly after noon when he crossed the center line and collided with a westbound vehicle, according to the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office.

Frederick’s two passengers were taken to an Omaha hospital. A sheriff’s official on Thursday said both are expected to survive.

The driver of the westbound vehicle and her passenger were treated and released from a local hospital.

Sheriff’s officials say no one involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt.
