LINCOLN — Pat Hirschberg scored on John Mulgrue’s infield grounder in the ninth inning Monday to lead the White team to a 5-4 victory on the final day of the Nebraska baseball team’s Red-White series at Haymarket Park.
Junior right-hander Mike Nesseth pitched 2.1 innings of no-hit relief for the win, allowing only two balls out of the infield. Cody Asche was the only White starter with two hits, going 2 for 5.
Patric Tolentino collected three hits Monday and finished the three-game series with a team-best .417 average for the Reds, who won the first two games.
The Huskers will wrap up fall drills this week and begin preparations for next season, which is scheduled to begin Feb. 19 when the Huskers open a four-game series at Fresno State.
