Groups and organizations that Pete Ricketts is involved in:
>> Education Opportunity Nebraska. Ricketts serves as director and president of this think tank. He was instrumental in hiring former State Sen. Pam Redfield to serve as executive director.
>> Platte Institute for Economic Research. Ricketts is a founder and also is on the board of directors. John S. McCollister, who serves as executive director, says it's “incorrect” to say that Ricketts is the only fundraiser. “I raise money, and the director raises some money, as well. Pete is not the main contributor,” said McCollister.
>> Nebraska Watchdog. Ricketts helped launch this political Web site with the help of the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity. It is run by Joe Jordan, a former television reporter.
>> Nebraska chapter of Americans for Prosperity. Ricketts is believed to be a major donor to this group, which was formed to oppose President Barack Obama's health care overhaul plan. A spokesman would not say how much Ricketts has given but says the Nebraska chapter has more than 300 individual contributors.
>> Nebraskans for Fiscal Accountability. Ricketts created this independent political group last year, giving $20,000. He then used the organization to conduct an opinion poll last fall.
