Leach says Tech can't obsess over NU star defender Suh

Filed by Rich Kaipust at 1:55 p.m.

With Ndamukong Suh-mania hitting full stride, Texas Tech coach Mike Leach was asked this week if certain high-caliber defensive players require an offense to adjust its game plan.

"Once in a while,'' Leach said and then explained.

"Here's the thing, if you spend too much time doing that, you know, we're in the Big 12, a conference that's full of great players,'' he said. "There's no shortage of them. He is theirs, but we're in a conference full of them so you better spend more time worrying about yourself than a bunch of individuals out there."

Leach said one of the concerns with Suh is that he can do a lot of different things and Nebraska will move the defensive tackle.

"Just keep an eye on him,'' Leach said. "And know where he's at.''

Suh made five tackles last season at Texas Tech, but did not record a sack or a quarterback hurry.

"He's an awesome athlete, great pad level and technique and a strong player,'' said Texas Tech offensive tackle Marlon Winn. "But we're not expecting any change. We're going to go out there and play our game like he's going to play his.''
