Players of the week
Offense: Texas quarterback Colt McCoy. The senior from Tuscola, Texas, completed 26 of 31 passes for 269 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-7 win over Missouri.
Defense: Iowa State linebacker Jesse Smith. The senior from Altoona, Iowa, had 12 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble in a 9-7 win over Nebraska.
Special teams: Iowa State punter Mike Brandtner. The senior from Bettendorf, Iowa, gained 20 yards on a fake punt to keep a scoring drive alive and had punts of 40, 60, 50 and 58 yards in a 9-7 win over Nebraska.
Green side up
Oklahoma's Owen Field is undergoing a midseason sod replacement.
A U2 concert on Oct. 18 damaged the turf badly enough to force replacement, but that was expected. The contract OU officials signed with concert promoters required that new turf be in place in time for Saturday's game with Kansas State.
The grass was shipped in on 30 tractor-trailers from Foley, Ala.
Stat of the week
The last time Nebraska scored as few as 17 points in consecutive games was the end of the 1988 season in a 7-3 win over Oklahoma and a 23-3 loss to Miami.

Missouri's 173 yards of total offense in a 41-7 loss against Texas was its lowest mark since a 1999 loss to Kansas State. ...
