FYI . . . Bennington street update

BENNINGTON

156th Street project update

What's new: Bennington residents will receive an update Wednesday on plans to resurface 156th Street and add a roundabout. The public meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bennington Elementary School, 11620 N. 156th St.

The details: The street will be resurfaced, and a turn lane will be added near the school.

What we already knew: The federally funded project, estimated to cost $4.6 million, has been in various design phases for about two years. Bennington's share of the construction cost is 20 percent, or more than $900,000.

What's next: The 156th Street project is intended to ease traffic along a stretch of the road from the Papio Creek Bridge — just south of Bennington Road — north to Nebraska Highway 36. The roundabout is planned for the intersection at 156th Street and Bennington Road, across from Bennington Elementary School.
