CRICK FLOWING
Well, what do you think? Should we give Ndamukong Suh the Outland Trophy and Jared Crick the Lombardi? Or the other way around? Crick is playing at an All-Big 12 level this season. Given Suh's performance, and the politics of college football honors teams, Crick probably will get overshadowed by Suh. Right now Crick's making a case for the second-best defensive tackle in the league, and that's pretty good.
JUMBLED MESS
The Huskers ran for 145 yards, but when they had to keep it on the ground late to run some clock, they couldn't do it. Even Bo Pelini said, “We didn't run the football to my liking today.” At times it's the push up front, it's the backs not making a play and it's the play-calling going away from it. Now Lester Ward is suddenly back in the picture, with his first carries (seven) since Arkansas State. It's a jumbled mess, and I'm not sure I see it changing the rest of this season, unless Shawn Watson can get Cody Green loose. But to do that, he might need one of the running backs to step up as a threat to keep the defense honest.
TIPPING THE PLAY
Have you ever noticed that when Nebraska has those three receivers shifting from one side to the other, it's usually a toss play? You can bet if I noticed it, the opposing defense has, too.
MISSING GRIFFIN
The best news of the day, other than the victory, was that Nebraska won't play Baylor again until 2012. By then, sophomore quarterback Robert Griffin might be gone. The way Nebraska's offense is going now, it was a very lucky break for NU that Griffin is out this year with an injury.
