    CU squads ninth in Valley event

    PEORIA, Ill. — The Creighton men's and women's cross country teams both finished ninth at the Missouri Valley Conference championships on Saturday.

    Wichita State won the 10-team women's race and Indiana State won the nine-team men's race.

    CU's Hannah Connealy ran the 5,000 meters in 20:09 to finish 32nd. Sophomore Stephen VanGampleare led the Bluejay men, finishing 45th at 28:31.Sophomore Casey Jergenson was 47th in 28:36. The men's champion was Scott Krapf from Illinois State.

    The Creighton men and women will be back in action at the NCAA Midwest Regional on Nov. 14 in Springfield, Mo.
