A 14-year-old Omaha Central student was found with an unloaded .22 caliber revolver at the school Monday morning.
Luanne Nelson, Omaha Public Schools spokeswoman, said another student overhead a conversation about a gun and immediately reported it to school staff.
The 14-year-old boy, a freshman, was searched by a school resource officer and the gun was found.
Nelson said there no threats made toward anyone at the school.
The incident was reported at 11:45 a.m.
The student was arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm at a school and carrying a concealed weapon. He was taken to the Douglas County Youth Center.
Nelson said a student found with a gun at school could face expulsion under the district’s code of conduct.
