    Heisman winners converge

Filed by Mitch Sherman at 9:22 p.m.

You've probably heard that six Heisman Trophy winners have joined forces to help stage a few events that surround the Nebraska-Oklahoma game Saturday.

Johnny Rodgers, Mike Rozier and Eric Crouch from NU and Steve Owens, Billy Sims and Jason White of OU will help debut the new Nebraska Football Experience room on Friday. NU has moved its Heisman room to the lobby of the Osborne Athletic Complex on the north end of Memorial Stadium.

Additionally, NU has added several displays to lobby project, which will be completed by the end of next month. The area will include the Huskers' national championship trophies on display, trophies from Nebraska's 45 bowl games and conference championships and an integrated kiosk featuring bowl game pictures and videos.

Eleven major award winners from Nebraska will participate in an event Friday night with their OU counterparts. It is closed to the public and the media; however, the six Heisman winners will make several public appearances, including:

    - The Wick Alumni Center at 16th and R Streets on the UNL campus, Friday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Footballs autographed by all six Heisman winners will be available to purchase for $149.99 and autographed photos will sell for $76. No other items will be signed. The Nebraska Alumni Association's Football Fridays event will follow in the outdoor courtyard.

    - The Husker Nation Pavilion at 4 p.m., Saturday as part of a special gathering of the major award winners from both schools. The autographed footballs and photos will again be available for purchase.

    - Westroads Shopping Center in Omaha, Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Heisman winners will appear at Crescent Collectibles in Von Maur Court.

Major award winners from NU expected to participate include Rodgers, Rozier Crouch, Trev Alberts, Tommie Frazier, Larry Jacobson, Dave Rimington, Will Shields, Dean Steinkuhler, Aaron Taylor and Zach Weigert.

Members of the 1959 Nebraska team will also be honored in a pregame ceremony Saturday. The 1959 Huskers ended Oklahoma's 74-game unbeaten streak in conference play with a 25-21 win at Memorial Stadium.
