    REBECCA S. GRATZ/THE WORLD-HERALD

NU's Phillip Dillard, front, Alfonzo Dennard, left, and Matt O'Hanlon converge to tackle Oklahoma's DeMarco Murray, helping to hold OU without a TD for the first time since 1998.

    Tracking the defense

    NU STAR

Plenty of candidates to pick from, but Matt O'Hanlon had a night to remember as he became the fourth player in Nebraska history to intercept three passes in a game. The senior free safety stopped Oklahoma drives at the Nebraska 26-, 19- and 7-yard line, becoming the first Husker since Ric Lindquist in 1979 with three picks in a game. For good measure, O'Hanlon finished with a team-high 12 tackles, including nine unassisted stops.

    HIGHLIGHT

Cornerback Prince Amukamara showed off some running ability after intercepting Landry Jones at the OU 23. He raced toward the sideline, refused to go out of bounds, bounced inside and bulled his way to the 1-yard line. Two plays later, Nebraska scored the game's only touchdown on Zac Lee's pass to Ryan Hill.

    BUSTED PLAY

As the coaches like to say, we'll have to check the film to find one. The Huskers were sound all night, coming up with big plays to counter Oklahoma's thrusts into Nebraska territory. The Sooners ran 87 plays, which gave the Huskers plenty of opportunities to break down. They won the game because they didn't.

    OUR TAKE

Make no mistake, Jones is no Sam Bradford at quarterback, and Oklahoma contributed to its own problems by continually shooting itself in the foot with mistakes and stupid penalties. Credit Nebraska's defense for taking advantage of Jones' inexperience to keep Oklahoma out of the end zone for the first time since a 1998 game against Texas A&M. The Huskers have relied on their defense to keep them in games all year, and the Blackshirts came through repeatedly with big plays and big stops.
