The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating whether four horses in northwest Douglas County were neglected.
The Nebraska Humane Society seized the animals this week after the sheriff’s office contacted them, Humane Society spokeswoman Pam Wiese said Friday.
The horses, which were relinquished by their owner, appeared emaciated and hadn’t received proper veterinary care, she said. The Humane Society will try to rehabilitate the animals and possibly offer them for adoption.
