A new proposal for student movement within the Omaha school district would substantially change the number of choices available.
If you live in OPS:
>> All schools are open to all students.
>> First priority would be given to siblings of current students.
>> Second priority would be given to students who would increase the income-based diversity of a school. That means:
>> Students who receive free- or reduced-cost lunch would get priority to 31 elementary schools, three middle schools and three high schools.
>> Students who do not receive a subsidized meal would get priority to 30 elementary schools, eight middle schools and four high schools.
If you live in another learning community school district:
>> The number of spaces available in OPS schools would be determined after resident student movement is completed.
>> Students who receive a free or reduced-cost school lunch would have priority at six elementary schools, one middle school and none of the district’s high schools.
>> Students who do not receive a subsidized school meal would have priority at 55 elementary schools, 10 middle schools and all seven of the district’s high schools.
Placement lotteries would be used as needed in all cases.
