Voters in Yutan have said no to the addition of fluoride in their water system.
According to the results released Tuesday by Saunders County Clerk Patti Lindgren, 195 voters opposed the addition of fluoride while 85 were in favor. The 280 votes represent 37 percent of the eligible voters in Yutan.
Nebraska law requires that all towns of 1,000 or more residents add fluoride to their water systems by July 1, 2010 unless the citizens vote not to participate.
Last November in the general election, Yutan residents voted 292 to 265 to add fluoride. Some voters, however, complained that they were confused by the ballot language and the town's city council agreed to seek another vote.
