Plattsmouth residents have handily approved two tax proposals, including one that increased the city's sales tax by a half cent.
Nancy Josoff, the Cass County Election Commissioner, said voters approved the half cent increase 856 to 375.
The measure increased the local sales tax from 1 cent to 1.5 cents for each dollar spent. State sales tax is 5.5 cents on the dollar.
Voters also repealed a provision that would have ended the city's sales tax in 2012 by a count of 759 to 473.
The vote was done by mail with 1,236 ballots returned to the election commissioners office by the 5 p.m. Tuesday deadline. - Kevin Cole
