SUTTON, Neb. (AP) — Residents of the Sutton Public Schools district have approved a $1.25 levy override on a 526-262 vote.
The vote follows one in 2004, in which voters approved a 5-year, $1.25 levy override.
While the district has had the option of raising the local levy that high, Sutton Superintendent Dana Wiseman says the levy average for the past five years has been $1.14.
Sutton Public Schools' current levy is $1.06 — one cent above the state-mandated lid of $1.05 per every $100 of assessed property valuations.
