1:35 p.m.: Those who attend Nebraska's basketball opener Saturday night will see one of the biggest players ever to enter the Devaney Center.
South Carolina-Upstate senior center Nick Schneiders stands 7-foot-3 and weighs 260 pounds. He is believed to be the biggest player to face NU since 7-4 Alan Bannister from Oklahoma State in the late 1980s.
Schneiders, from Germany, is in his fifth year of organized basketball. Last season, he averaged 9.5 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.6 blocks.
