    Tom's takes

    BO VS. BILL

I'm really, really looking forward to next weekend. What a setup. Bo Pelini vs. Bill Snyder for the Big 12 North title. Somebody will bring up the 2003 game in Lincoln where Pelini was heard screaming an obscenity at Snyder, but the two addressed that last summer at Big 12 media days and said it was forgotten. What I love about this matchup is the sort of “old master'' vs. “new guy on the block'' dynamic it brings. Snyder's offense vs. Pelini's defense. Two workaholics who might not sleep a wink until next Sunday. Does Snyder still have his touch in a winner-take-all game? Does Pelini have the touch?

    WELL DONE, WATS

I'll never totally understand the Watson Coast offense, or what it stands for, but I like this version a lot better. I've given Watson a hard time this season, and you give credit where credit is due. He clearly played to his personnel on Saturday.

    ROAD GRADERS

Four straight conference road wins. This program is getting tougher. Winning on the road consistently in any league is a great sign about a program. There's a toughness to this team, from Roy Helu running hard with a bum shoulder, to Dejon Gomes knocking the ball out of Kerry Meier's arm when the defense was having an off day. No matter what happens the rest of this season, it's almost irrelevant to the big picture. Almost. Progress this season is a Big 12 North title. It will be a letdown now if NU can't win it. Did I mention that I can't wait for Saturday?
