    Game replay

    NOTICED

Kansas actually challenged NU’s interior line in the run game — and it worked. The Jayhawks rushed for only 99 yards, but they converted a number of times on short yardage. Opponents don’t typically do that against Jared Crick and Ndamukong Suh.

    WHAT WAS THAT?

Not a good start for this Big 12 officiating crew. During the coin toss, the referee flipped the coin, initially called heads, then corrected himself. Tails! Whatever it was, Kansas won the toss and deferred to the second half.

    PECULIAR PLAY

Zac Lee’s 32-yard bootleg in the second quarter surprised. Lee looked more assertive running than he had all season. He resisted KU tacklers and showed impressive speed. Shawn Watson has encouraged Lee to take off and run more often.

    RAVE REVIEW

Nebraska’s corner blitzes. Bo Pelini sent perimeter rushers at Todd Reesing early and often. Eric Hagg, Prince Amukamara, Dejon Gomes. It was a relatively new wrinkle from Pelini. And that’s partly why it was so effective in the first half.
