Entrepreneur Joy Huber of Lincoln is taking part in Democracy 2.0: Exploring the Millenial Generation's ROI in Chicago, a gathering of 150 people ages 18 to 34 aimed at enlisting their brain power to find solutions for the economic challenges their generation faces. The gathering is sponsored by the Peter G. Peterson Foundation and Mobilize.org.

As you recall from Steve Jordon's article in the Oct. 24 Omaha World-Herald, I am one of two Nebraskans (born in Pawnee City, and a graduate of Peru State College!) proud to represent our state at this week's National Summit of only 150 attendees kicking off in downtown Chicago tomorrow evening with a social.

As I write, I'm finalizing the house-sitters who will move into my place for the week, packing lots of red clothes to represent NE, and could not be more excited for this event that I'm sure will be one of the highlights of my small business' 4+-year life.

I received a call from Washington, D.C., this morning asking me to be one of the Summit's official spokepeople to the media (possibly national media too!) since I have prior media experience. I fly into Chicago O'Hare tomorrow afternoon from Omaha, attend the social tomorrow night, and meet with mobilize.org Wednesday morning to get my “official media talking points.”

Wednesday will be a HUGE day for our Summit, and I will be sending back a brief daily update each day.

I am most excited to meet 149 other members of the Millennial Generation who have been selected to attend this invite-only Summit by submitting brilliant ideas and proposals, bringing forth Solutions to the challenges this Generation faces with our current economic climate. The networking opportunities, thoughts of potential collaborating with other participants in future business, and just having a terrific time while we forward real solutions that will positively impact our country's economic future has a thrilling feel to it, carefully balanced with the weight of this tremendous responsibility. I have already grown my Facebook friends and Twitter followers, and this morning followed a young man out East whose bio says, “Future Politician.” I feel like David Axelrod did maybe years ago when he first met our President. To be invited to be part of such an important group of future movers & shakers in our country is a high honor for this Nebraskan who went into business years ago with a mission of helping people improve their communication skills so they can achieve better results in business & life.

This Summit has spawned so many ideas to exponentially grow my business, but one of them I'm most excited about is the idea to start a 2nd book project spotlighting millennial entrepreneurs and their businesses.

I'll do another update tomorrow, Live from Downtown Chicago.
