Manilla project almost done

World-Herald News Service

MANILLA, Iowa — The temporary concrete plant at the intersection of Crawford County Road M55 and Iowa Highway 141 near Manilla is gone.

The ground has been smoothed, and the trucks, trailers and other heavy machinery have been dismantled and removed.

Cedar Valley Corp., a Waterloo paving company, has finished pouring concrete on a seven-mile stretch of County Roads M55 and E53, from Highway 141 north and then west to Donna Reed Road.

The project cost almost $3.8 million. Shoulder work, sign installation and pavement markings remain to be completed.

The Crawford County engineer said the entire stretch should be open again in three to four weeks.
