ST. LOUIS — Saint Louis coach Rick Majerus said Wednesday night he hopes the Billikens and Nebraska will play more basketball series in the future.
“It would be good for Nebraska, and we would like to play it,'' he said. “Our issue isn't wanting to play teams. Our issue is teams not wanting to play us.''
NU coach Doc Sadler's response?
“Any time you get a chance to play against his teams, especially early, you're going to find out where you're at,'' Sadler said.
“If we can't figure out how to play them, maybe we can scrimmage them or something because he does a great job.''
Family ties
Nebraska freshman guard Eshaunte Jones had a personal cheering section from his hometown of Fort Wayne, Ind.
Watching him score nine points were his mother, his toddler son and his sister, a former basketball player at Saint Louis.
“She lives right behind the stadium here,'' Jones said.
The loss dampened the reunion a little.
“The team is down right now,'' Jones said. “I was upset with myself that we lost. Maybe I could have played better on the defensive side.''
Diaz injured
Nebraska center Jorge Brian Diaz had two teeth loosened and suffered a cut inside his mouth when he took an elbow in the face just 1:24 into the game.
Diaz didn't return until the final 8:21. He finished with no points and one rebound in four minutes.
