Marquette scored its final eight points of the first half at the free-throw line to own a 33-25 lead at the break, despite not making a field goal in the final 7:26.
Marquette's lead grew to 13 less than two minutes into the second half and the Golden Eagles owned a 47-34 lead with less than 15 minutes left before the Bluejays rallied. They mounted a 19-6 run to tie the game at 53-53 with 7:52 left on a basket by Kellie Nelson.
The Jays couldn't take advantage of eight consecutive missed MU free throws because of the poor rebounding.
Creighton, which had been 28 of 61 from 3-point range in its first two wins, was just 3 of 17 on Thursday.
Sam Schuett finished with 11 rebounds, six points and three blocked shots. Chevelle Herring led the Jays with 12 points, four assists and four steals. Megan Neuvirth and Kelsey Woodard each chipped in 10 points.
