Rock Candy: Dueling duos, punk riffs and more

With the Matt Whipkey Three now down to two members and the Kris Lager Band down to just a pair, the two duos are taking to a Benson stage to duel it out. Catch Whipkey and drummer Scott “Zip” Zimmerman perform with Kris Lager and drummer Jeremiah Weir.

Eastern Turkish

The young punks in Eastern Turkish open up a show for fellow Omaha punks the Shidiots. Eastern Turkish’s ska leanings and driving punk riffs bring up notions of California rockers Rancid.

Details: Saturday at 9 p.m. at Saddle Creek Bar, 1410 N. Saddle Creek Road.

Big Al Band with Jes Winter

Catch Big Al, bassist Ashley Dawn and a drum machine as the band films songs for a live DVD.

All in the shoes?

The boys from Ultimate Downhill Machines will join Gunk DJs Kobrakyle and $pencelove for another dance party. The theme this time? “Money, it’s gotta be the shoes!” Get some new kicks and show ’em off at the party.
