Red Oak eyes renovations

RED OAK, Iowa — The City of Red Oak will consider working with local developers to renovate buildings in the 200 block of East Coolbaugh Street.

According to Brad Wright, Red Oak city administrator, Earl and Cynthia Bangston asked the Red Oak City Council about city financing for renovations on properties they purchased in the 200-block of E. Coolbaugh St.

The ground floor of one building is already being refurbished for commercial use. Area Education Agencies from Red Oak and Shenandoah will combine offices in that space. Two more store fronts will be used for future tenants.

“We need to negotiate the details,” Wright said. “Nothing is committed yet.”
