Sex, drugs, booze and a running car

By John Keenan
WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

Sex, drugs, alcohol and a running Buick are not a good mix — especially when Omaha police come knocking on the window.

Shortly after midnight Tuesday, a 25-year-old Council Bluffs man and a 22-year-old Omaha woman were cited for lewd conduct after a police officer discovered them engaging in romantic activity inside a 1993 Buick. The Buick was parked on the corner of 12th and Jackson Streets, but its motor was running.

That matters because the woman, shirt off and bra undone, showed "obvious signs of intoxication," including bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and alcohol on the breath, according to police. She performed poorly on field sobriety tests, failed an alcohol test at .182, and was cited on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to police reports.

In Nebraska, a person can be cited for driving under the influence if the vehicle is running.

The woman also was cited for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. Her paramour was cited only for lewd conduct.
