Tree cutting OK in forest with permit

CHADRON — Permits will soon be available for those who want to venture into the Nebraska National Forest to cut a Christmas tree.

Permits may be purchased for $10 beginning Monday. They’ll be available at the Pine Ridge Ranger District/Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands supervisor’s office in Chadron. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Each permit will include a map that identifies national forest areas in the Pine Ridge Ranger District available for harvesting trees. — AP
